In support of World Health Day on April 7, the LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, will host a Free Health Screening Event on Sunday, 19 April 2026, aiming to promote health awareness among the public, with a particular focus on occupational drivers and individuals who spend prolonged hours driving, who may face increased risks of conditions such as stroke.

Prolonged driving, shift work, and high stress environments are known to increase the risk of stroke. Both local and international studies have shown that individuals in these circumstances face a significantly higher risk of stroke compared with the general population. Early identification of risk factors and preventive education can effectively protect personal health, while also reducing the risk that sudden medical events may pose to road safety.

This event is jointly organized by Dr. Gary Lau, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, HKUMed, together with his team and MBBS students. Professional health screenings and on-site health consultations will be provided to help participants better understand their health status and adopt appropriate preventive measures, thereby promoting overall community health.
