Stroke is a global disease. In Hong Kong, more than 3,000 people die of cerebrovascular disease every year. Stroke is the fourth biggest killer in Hong Kong and should be taken seriously. Nonetheless during the COVID-19 pandemic, many stroke patients avoided seeking medical care and consequently delayed treatment. Studies show that acute stroke patients had an average one hour delay between symptom onset and arrival at hospital during the first two months of the pandemic. This may have affected treatment efficacy.
