Importance of Early Blood Pressure Control following Intracerebral Hemorrhage

已更新:2022年8月4日

Survivors of intracerebral hemorrhage are at high risk for recurrent stroke. A follow up study of ICH survivors over an average four-year period has recently been conducted by HKU Stroke and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University. Amongst 1828 ICH survivors, those with a systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90mmHg 3 months after stroke had a 2.5 times increased risk of further stroke and 3-4 times increased risk of death compared with those whose blood pressure was controlled to <140/90mmHg. These findings reinforce the importance of early blood pressure optimisation after stroke.

HKU Stroke and Sau Po Centre on Ageing recently launched the “WeRISE” App. The “WeRISE” App is a ‘one-stop’ platform for stroke patients and caregivers combating stroke and provides an easy to use function to help stroke survivors monitor and control their blood pressure.
