Prof. Gary Lau, Director of HKU Stroke, was honored to be invited to participate in the 24th Asian Horological Trade & Industry Promotion Conference (AHTIPC).

As a premier regional exchange platform for the Asian watch and clock industry, the AHTIPC brings together industry leaders and stakeholders across Asia to explore market trends, foster technological exchange, and deepen collaboration. Under this year’s theme, "The Future of Watchmaking: Smart Technology as a Catalyst for Industrial Upgrading," the conference focused on emerging directions such as AI-powered wearable devices and health management.

During the Keynote and Panel discussion “Time Meets Intelligence - AI Wearables Empowering Integrative East-West Medicine”, the HKU Stroke team delivered a presentation titled "Wearable Technologies for Personalised Stroke Risk Reduction and Management". The talk synthesized the latest scientific research, reviewed current prevention and treatment strategies, and explored the potential applications of smartwatches in personalized health risk management. The team was also privileged to engage in an in-depth dialogue with Prof. Mo Feizhi, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Chinese Medicine Technology, and Mr. Paul Yuen, Federation Secretary General of the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries, exchanging valuable insights on the challenges and breakthroughs in combining Chinese and Western medicine for stroke prevention and control.
