Mislabelled drug allergies among stroke patients leads to poorer treatment outcomes

A recent study by HKUMed found that stroke patients with mislabelled NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) allergies were less likely to receive aspirin following an ischaemic stroke, leading to poorer treatment outcomes and facing a greater risk of death and major adverse cardiovascular events. It is therefore important for patients with unverified drug allergies to undergo evaluation to see if they can safely use NSAIDs again to improve patient outcomes.
