Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide and a common cause of disability. Although the incidence of stroke has declined in some high-income countries, it is increasing globally even among younger people.
Although this disease is menacing, we can identify the signs of stroke early through the four-character formula of "talking, laughing and fighting" to first aid stroke. These four words represent respectively:
- "F" means facial expression asymmetry, such as a crooked face when smiling.
- "A" means arm weakness or numbness on one side of the body, such as abnormal sensation or weakness in arms, legs and feet.
- "S" means speech problems, such as slurred or incoherent speech.
- "T" mean time to call 999. When the above symptoms are discovered, medical assistance should be sought immediately because time is of the essence for stroke patients.
Once you notice these symptoms, it's crucial to take immediate action. Please seek medical assistance quickly, as prompt treatment may be decisive in saving lives and reducing sequelae. If you or someone close to you experiences similar symptoms, please do not hesitate to seek professional medical assistance immediately.
